sinners

Adam and Eve were also corrupted and sold humanity into the slavery of sin. They weren't even tempted, it was just sheer pride. They probably began to feel the pain of their betrayal when their son Cain murdered his innocent brother Abel with the same false pride. Noah gets drunk and falls into incest with his own daughters. God never gives up and finds Abraham, who is not perfect but is loyal and faithful. He allows the cruel exile Hagar and Ishmael and leaves an open wound which is still not healed. Isaac is obedient and carries the wood to his own emulation on the same mount where Jesus will complete the sacrifice necessary to redeem humanity from the failure of Adam. Jacob steals Esau's birthright, his children sell their own brother Joseph into slavery. Joseph is like Jesus who forgives and saves. Moses starts out as a murderer but is still chosen to lead Gods wicked but chosen people to the Promised Land. Except for Joshua, they are too cowardly to enter the Promised Land and prefer to remain in the desert until they die. Joshua takes the Promised Land without violence just as God leads His chosen people out of Egypt without violence but they take false pride in the victory at Jericho and choose to do it their way with killing and pillage. David is a born hero but success leads him to adultery and murder. He sincerely repents and is restored but loses his son Absalom in the process. God's chosen people continue to betray him and are enslaved again and again. Finally God finds a faithful soul in Mary and is able to establish his Kingdom, the Church. The members are all still sinners but our King and Queen are without blemish and we can celebrate the wedding feast of the lamb with his bride, the Church, everyday and for all eternity. God's love for each of us has nothing to do with our sinfulness and everything to do with His infinite mercy and Love if we admit our nothingness and trust in His almighty power and goodness.
